- Abusaleh Shariff
- Abusaleh Shariff is a Sr. Research Fellow at the New Delhi Office of the International Food Policy Research Institute. He was the Chief Economist at the Nat. Council of Applied Economic Research from 1994-2007. He has a doctoral degree from the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia; a Master Degree from the Bangalore University, India and Post-doctoral research experience from Economic Growth Centre, Yale University, USA. He served as the Member Secretary to the Prime Minister’s High Level Committee for the preparation of a report on the Social, economic and Educational status of the Muslim Community of India. Important accomplishments include publication of India-Human Development Report(1999)Oxford University Press; State,Markets and Human Development, 2007. He was selected as one of the India Today Magazine’s ‘faces of millennium (Economist)’ in January 2000 issue. One of the 25 alternative power list of Outlook Magazine in 2007. Besides being on various Government of India committees, he has been elected as a member of the university court of the Aligadh Muslims University.
